This southern Catalan county owes its name to the submission of the villages to the Prior of the Carthusian Monastery of Scala Dei around the 12th Century. Well-known actors and singers from all-over the world have opened cellars here, and maybe thanks to the fact that great winemakers from La Rioja have introduced their know-how in the area for experimenting with these wines; nowadays, they have become safe values.
