Thematic Routes |
![]() The sun, the sea, the way that the light falls in the city and the open-air lifestyle, along with the temperamental soul of her people, all inspired him to create his intensely colour-defined paintings and sculptures. Miró's uniquely unversal world-view is reflected in the chromatic code of his works, with the blue of his paintings representing the sky and the sea of his home city; yellow, mankind's unattainable desires; and red, blood and passion. The Miró foundations in Barcelona and Mallorca have become study centres for Modern Art. The tranquil surroundings of Horta D’Ebre in Tarragona and Son Boter in Mallorca were also inspirational locations for the surreal and highly-critical vision of this world-renowned Catalan, whose paintings have transformed him into an icon of contemporary culture. |
