Barcelona’s 2002 celebrations of Gaudí’s life and works brought him even more popularity. Our aim, with this experience, is to introduce you to his lesser-known works, which trace his first inspirations: Islamic culture and the Pre-Raphaelites, while for those less acquainted with his genius, we’ll bring you up-to-date with his better-known works as well.
Our trip starts near Reus, his birthplace, guided by university professors who are published scholars on Gaudí. We’ll continue through the Crypt of Santa Coloma de Cervelló near Barcelona, the Güell Wine Cellars in Garraf, the hanging gardens from la Pobla de l’Illet by the Pyrenees, and minor works in the city that received him before the Universal Exhibition of 1888. A man ahead of his time, who due to circumstances and a never-ending story of a 20th century cathedral stands out in the world architecture. |
