Have you ever had the feeling that, returning from a trip abroad, you’ve just spent two weeks isolated in a typical holiday resort, or, alternately, that even if you’ve made a determined effort to explore the local culture, you’ve found yourself surrounded by other tourists instead? In a nutshell, that you were just ‘shown the sights’? At one life, we’d like to give you the opportunity to discover our culture first-hand, and in depth, so that not only will you feel more at home in our country, but also so that you’ll be able to take some of what you’ve experienced home with you. How do we plan to do this? By, for instance, introducing you to the basics of our language, by taking you to the places where we’ve studied or worked ourselves… We’ll take you shopping with us, and you’ll discover little-known haunts that only the natives know about. In addition, we’ll show you how we host a typical dinner-party at home or for a special celebration. We’ll also show you our favourite holiday spots! Culture stops being a remote and merely intellectual concept, when it’s made fun, accessible, and relative to our own lives. And that’s our aim, for you, here at one life. In return, all we ask of you is that you bring an open mind!
